My friends and I had been on a night out in Doncaster City Centre on the 17th March 2018. While we were in one of the bars, a tremendous amount of snow fall occurred. We were unaware of this until we left the bar. We attempted numerous taxi firms, none of them would pick us up from Doncaster until 6 am in the morning due to the snow fall and below freezing temperatures. After exhausting all other options, we went into this hotel in an attempt to book a room for the night, they were fully booked which they cannot help. While one of the receptionists tried to help us find a hotel room elsewhere (which there were none as everyone in Doncaster must have had the same thought as ourselves), we asked the hotel if it was possible if we could wait in the waiting area until a taxi would come for us due to the horrendous conditions outside. This is when the issue started, because we were not paying customers he would not allow us to wait in the waiting room he said we needed to leave the premises. We offered to buy things if it meant we could stay in the warmth but again he would not allow this. After a while, 5 police officers turned up, the receptionist had called the police to throw us out. This lead to us being kicked out into the streets into below freezing temperatures and they proceeded to lock the door, just to ensure we couldn't get back in. I understand the hotels policy that you must be a paying customer, but we were two young women, stranded, with no options, kicked into the freezing cold because of "policy". Luckily, I was eventually able to get a relative to come in a four by four to take us home but not before spending several hours unnecessarily in the cold thanks to the hotels staff.
However, there were others they also turned away who won't have been so lucky and I hope for the hotels sake they got home safely. No humanity at all.
